It Is Possible That Tiger Comes Back To Playing Golf…In 2022′: Orthopedic Surgeon Describes Tiger Woods’ Major Injury
“Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery by Orthopaedic trauma specialists at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center,” Dr. Anish Mahajan, MD, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center chief medical officer & interim CEO at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, said. “Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia. Additional injuries the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins. Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg requried surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling.”“The ability to return to golf, who knows,” Dr. Selene Parekh, Duke Ortho surgeon and Fantasy Doctors co-owner, said. “I mean, Tiger has shown us before that he beats the odds. Alex Smith has shown us that you can go to the brink of death with sepsis and come back and play football. So, I never question athletes because these guys are amazing specimens.”
